You probably searched for something like yoga retreat Kerala beach and landed here, hoping for something real. Not too spiritual, not too Instagram, not a full-on retreat. Just a place where you can move, breathe, stretch, eat well, and maybe remember what it feels like to live in your body again.
Same.
And somewhere along the way, that’s exactly what we created at Soul & Surf India.
We’re not your typical yogi retreat, and we don’t really want to be.
Soul & Surf India is more of a hotel-meets-home, perched above the beach in Varkala, offering yoga every day for guests who want something deeper from their travels.
So yes, we’re into yoga. Properly into it. We run daily classes – sunrise flows and sunset slows – in our open-air shala or out under the palms. There’s sound, there’s stillness, there’s movement and space to explore.
It’s yoga that meets you where you are. You can go deep or keep it light. Show up once or show up daily. We’re not here to fix you or preach. Just to offer a place to practise – with good teachers, thoughtful sequencing, and a backdrop that makes it all feel a little more possible.
Want the full lowdown? Our yoga offering is here.
If you’ve never surfed before but you’re surf-curious, Kerala’s the place.
We’re right by mellow, warm-water waves that are perfect for beginners. And if the ocean calls, our team can get you set up with a board, a lesson, and some salty encouragement. No pressure, no posturing. Surf if you want to. Don’t if you don’t.
Some of our yoga guests try surf once, then fall in love. Others prefer to stick to dry land, Ayurvedic massages, and watching the sunset from our terrace. It’s all good.
Yoga’s the heart of what we do but surfing’s there if you fancy it.
This isn’t a retreat with a set schedule and 6am bells.
It’s a stay — with soul.
Mornings begin with movement and birdsong, followed by South Indian breakfast and cardamom coffee. Maybe you surf. Maybe you journal. Maybe you wander down the red cliffs to town for snacks or chai or vintage clothes.
Afternoons are for hammocks, swims, Ayurvedic treatments, books, naps.
Evenings bring mellow yoga, sunset surf, or shared dinners under the stars.
Dip in and out of what feels good.
Kerala’s got this quiet magic to it. Palm trees and paddies, cliff paths and coastline. Ayurveda, tradition, and coconut everything.
This part of India feels softer. That’s why we’re here. And we think it’s why yoga feels especially good here too.
We’re not a retreat. We’re not a resort. We’re just a soulful little spot by the sea, where you can move, breathe, and remember how good it feels to just be.
