Weeklies

Fitter. Happier. More Productive? Us neither…

Okay, so the internet’s got online yoga classes coming out of its ears right now. But we think that’s for good reason (and yes, we may be biased). We don’t need to talk to you about the well-documented benefits of yoga when it comes to finding a sense of balance and calm. Of finding a way to feel a touch more connected when sh*t really hits the fan… of feeling a bit more resilient as we adapt to change. All things that, we reckon, could be pretty helpful right now.

Let’s face it, none of us are going to a real yoga class any time soon.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to meet and make part of the family some truly exceptional teachers, some have dipped in and out of working with us, some have stayed for good. Each has their own clear passion and idea of yoga that resonates with them and we hugely value the unique take that they bring with them to the mat – and know that their students do too.

Now, you get to practice with them weekly instead of yearly

Classes will be £7 per class, or buy a 6-class pass for the cost of 5 classes (£35).

We know some of you might want to bring a lockdown buddy with you to class, so it’s 25% extra if you’re sharing your screen with a second person. Classes are 60 mins, not too long that it’ll get in the way of your day, just long enough to leave you feeling nourished, energised and ready to tackle whatever day #19475 of lockdown has to offer…

Pranayama with Hayley Mia

  • Mondays at 12.30pm (BST)
  • 20/30 minutes
  • Free

Anyone else feeling a bit…confused? Scrunched up in the brain? Our Hayley is committing her Mondays to some good ol’ Pranayama to help get the juices flowing and our heads unscrunched.

Pranayama is like breathing, but better. It is energising, rejuvenating, relaxing, relieving…all this from simply breathing? Don’t believe us? Come and see for yourself – both Hayley and Pranayama have magical powers.

She’ll be offering this class for free for anyone who wants to join. The more the merrier – you just need to click here to join via Zoom

Yoga Flow with Hayley Mia

  • Wednesdays at 8am (BST)
  • 60 minutes
  • £7 a session

If you’ve practiced with Hayley before – whether on our rooftop in Kerala or our jungle shala in Sri Lanka, or maybe even one of our occasional city sessions in London – you’ll know that her classes are something pretty special. (She’s far too humble to say so herself, which is why we’ve got someone else to write this on her behalf!)

Since Hayley first met us out in Kerala over five years ago, we knew we wanted her to stick around for longer than just a season. Lucky for us, we managed to convince her to stay on; now, she manages our yoga and mindfulness offering across the whole of Soul & Surf, and sees guests coming back year after year to spend time practicing with her.

How to be calm, productive, and a slightly better human being (in just 60 minutes)

For her Weeklies, Hayley will be teaching Flow. We leave it that vague because she tends to like the element of surprise does our Hayley, sometimes it could be slow, sometimes a bit faster, always with the intention of finding “Nowness” and weaving in the old yogic philosophies to help you reach mental and physical wellness.

Surf-focused Yoga with Rachel

  • Fridays at 8am (BST)
  • 60 minutes
  • £7 a session

Rach is both a trained yoga teacher and a surf coach. Having originally joined us out in Kerala, more recently she’s found in the Algarve, after falling in love with the Portuguese coastline while hosting some of our early pop-ups.

Eating pizza alone won’t do your surfing or your mind much good. 60 minutes of Yoga with Rach will.

With her background in both yoga and surf, Rach brings a unique perspective on yoga which is grounded in both the physical and mental aspects of surfing. By that, we mean a specific focus on surf-related muscle groups (think shoulders and core strength) as well as mindfulness tools to prepare you once you’re able to get in the water. Her classes are uplifting, invigorating and – even if we might not be going surfing for a little while – leave us feeling bloomin’ amazing. Every time.

Anyone here struggled with anxiety or fear of the ocean, fear of being smacked around by waves, fear of not achieving, of having imposter syndrome?

(All of S&S puts their hands up)

We. Have. All. Been. There.

And still are, sometimes. Surfing, or even just being in the ocean, is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. The good news? Yoga gives us the tools to manage those fears, mentally prepare, visualise and mind-surf your way back to the ocean.

Rachel’s classes will begin with a dynamic, surf-focused Vinyasa, building strength and stamina ready for paddling, popping-up and those dreamy 3-hour-long sessions in the water.

And then we will melt into Yin to delve more deeply into mobility and mindfulness, giving us both physical flexibility and mental preparation for all that lovely surfing.
