Sail and surf the Maldives in style!

A last minute opportunity to leave the daily grind behind and step on board your own private luxury catamaran, exploring this incredible tropical paradise. Experience the freedom of being able to roam the crystal clear waters in search of perfect waves.

The Maldives are a fantastic destination for intermediate surfers. There’s nothing better than leaving that wetsuit at home, and surfing fun friendly waves in your boardshorts or bikini’s. Everything from mellow cruisey peelers to playful skateparks, with a good mix of both lefts and rights.

And there’s so much more to the Maldives than just surf. They really are your picture postcard tropical islands, fringed with white sand beaches and swaying palm trees. Lots of palm trees!

Pop on your goggles and snorkel and be blown away by the incredible underwater world, teeming with marine life. It’s like being in an aquarium. If you’re lucky you may even get to swim with the manta rays, an amazing experience. Definitely one for the bucket list.

Need a break from the surf? Take a leisurely SUP to the island, or kayak over the coral reefs. Float about on the pink flamingo. Because pink flamingos in paradise are hard to beat!

Harness your inner Bear Grylls and throw a line off the back, maybe hooking up dinner – which can be BBQ’d for you on the back of the boat. Sip cocktails on the front deck, as you watch the sunset turn the sky into a blaze of pinks and reds. Lie back and relax on the trampolines whilst you gaze up at the Milky Way. No better place to make a wish upon a falling star!

Drop everything, grab your friends, grab your board, and join us for a magical Maldives adventure.

A Typical Day

Jump off the back of the yacht and paddle over to the surf. Or if you’re feeling lazy grab a lift on the dingy. When your arms are feeling like noodles from all the surfing, then go for a snorkel, a swim, SUP or kayak. Or just laze on the sunbeds catching a tan or reading a book. Feeling a bit stiff? Grab the yoga mat and down-dog on the front deck. There is no set routine and you’ll be able to decide each day what you’d like to do.

Rooms

There are 3 double cabins available, each with its own bathroom and shower. The cabins are light and airy with good headroom, and have air-conditioning and fans. The 2 aft cabins have queen sized beds (one has a flat screen TV) and the fore cabin has a double bed which can convert into a semi-twin share.

Super thick comfy mattresses mean a good night’s sleep. Each cabin has a cupboard and storage space, reading lights, and a 220V and 12V plug socket.

The Yacht

Shantaram is a Lagoon 450 catamaran. Big and spacious, and stable. She’s superbly fitted out, and has all the little extra’s which make your holiday even nicer. There’s an ice machine, Weber BBQ, flat screen TV & DVD player, a Bose sound system and ipod to keep the music flowing.

Plenty of outdoor space to spread out and relax. The large cockpit has a lovely dining area, the perfect place to enjoy your meals; and a big daybed to lie back and read a good book. Head up to the flybridge for the most stunning views, and enjoy the 2 large sunbeds upstairs to work on that golden tan. The spacious seating area up front is perfect for a sunset drink or to sit and strum the guitar. Lie back and relax on the two big trampolines an gaze at the stars.

The Surf

October is perfect for intermediate surfers looking for fun to medium sized waves with fewer surfers in the water.

You will be surfing the Northern Atolls on this trip. These are divided between the North Male Atoll and the South Male Atoll, both offering a pretty even mix of lefts and rights, with some of the standout and more internationally known breaks including Chickens, Coke’s, Jailbreaks, Sultans, Ninjas and Honkey’s in the north, and Quarters, Foxy’s, Guru’s and Riptides in the south.

North Male hosts the most popular spots, and has some of the longest rides, whilst South Male is less crowded and offers some more mellow waves and good longboard spots.

Your skipper is a keen surfer and will get you to the right breaks in the right conditions. He’ll also explain the line-up so you know where to sit.

As it will only be you and your mates on board you’ll be able to choose the types of waves you’d prefer to surf.

All the breaks are reef breaks, breaking over fairly flat benign coral. Definitely not like the carnivorous Indo reefs! Nonetheless booties are recommended in case you end up a little further inside than planned.

Food & Drink

We love food! So being able to offer really good food is important to us. We will start the day with tea, coffee and fruit to get us prepared for our morning surf, after which we will return for a hearty breakfast.

A healthy lunch will keep you energised through the afternoon surf session, and the sumptuous evening meal is a real social event for every to relax and compare surf stories over a few glasses of wine.

There’ll be a mix of Asian and Western cuisine – everything from delicious Thai food, juicy homemade hamburgers and thin crust pizza’s, scrumptious wraps or perhaps freshly caught fish cooked on the barbecue accompanied by local salads and freshly baked bread. There are even some mint plants to make sure you have the perfect mojito!
