Eat & Drink
The defining moments of many people’s stay at Soul & Surf over the years have been the communal, post surf, breakfasts in our garden. These late, leisurely, long breakfasts tend to be the times that things are organised, like-minded people are met, plots are hatched and friendships blossomed. When Ed & Sofie set up Soul & Surf all those years ago this social scene was the most surprising and also the most valuable part of the experience.
In Sri Lanka breakfast and dinner are designed to be communal whilst lunch is more of a drop-in affair. We won’t force you to eat everything together all the time, flexibility is our middle name after all, but with so many interesting, like-minded folks from around the world at the table we do encourage it.
We tend to have a light early breakfast of a smoothie and fruits first thing in the morning, then eat a hearty breakfast in the late morning, followed by a light lunch in the early afternoon and snacks and dinner shortly after the sun sets. Your meals, water, tea, coffee and homemade soft drinks with the meals come as part of your package.
Our whole kitchen team are Sri Lankan, led by our head Chef Aruna. With many years of international experience Chef Aruna has experience of cooking a range of cuisines.
Sofie works with Aruna and his team to develop, refresh and refine a menu and kitchen philosophy which is simple. Healthy eating, local produce, indulgent touches, Sri Lankan techniques, international combinations, beautifully presented.
